Dimes for Darfur is an initiative founded by NC Hillel in the summer of 2005. Its two-fold mission is to raise money for the children who live in refugee camps in the Sudan and Chad while also keeping the memory of the victims of the Holocaust alive.
Each dime collected represents one child; 1.5 million Jewish children were murdered in the Holocaust, and 1.5 million dimes is $150,000. Therefore, Dimes for Darfur is aiming to raise $150,000 by Yom Ha'Shoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, in April 2007.
